Verify connection details

Confirm the server IP or hostname, authorized account and access method with your provider. Linux requires an SSH service; Windows requires Remote Desktop enabled on a supported system. Management access may need to be restricted to a VPN or specific source IPs. This guide does not generate credentials or assume a connected ROVE portal.

Linux: connecting with SSH

You can use an SSH client in a terminal. The username and address below are placeholders; replace them with verified details. On first connection, verify the server key fingerprint through another trusted channel. Investigate changed-key warnings rather than bypassing them; they may follow a reinstall or a connection to a different server.

ssh kullanici@203.0.113.10
# Custom port / Özel port:
ssh -p 2222 kullanici@203.0.113.10

Windows: Remote Desktop

Use the verified server address and authorized account in a Remote Desktop client. Evaluate security options such as Network Level Authentication according to your service support. Prefer a VPN or source-IP restriction to unnecessarily exposing the management port to the internet. Investigate certificate warnings and unexpected credential prompts before accepting them.

If the connection fails

Separate failure types: a timeout may suggest routing or filtering, refusal may concern the service or port, and authentication failure may concern the account. These are clues, not definitive diagnoses. Check service state and the correct port; never attach private keys, passwords or unredacted sensitive logs to support requests.
